Wow, what a race. What a spectacle across Three Peaks.

The 3 Peaks Cyclo-cross once again delivered an unforgettable day of racing. Spectators gathered across the course to cheer on every rider through the mud, rocks, climbs and descents, creating an atmosphere worthy of one of the toughest and most iconic cyclo-cross races in the country.

After 38 relentless miles, the men’s race came down to a breath taking sprint finish, the closest finish in the events history.  Lachlan Morton timed his final move to perfection, narrowly defeating National Masters Champion and twice champion, Giles Drake in a dramatic battle that went right to the line. A hard-fought victory and a performance worthy of a new 3 Peaks champion.

The women’s race was every bit as spectacular. On her first appearance at the event, Isla Short produced a phenomenal ride to claim the overall victory, take every prime prize and smash the long-standing women’s course record held by the legendary Louise Robinson since 2003.

Defending champion Bryony Halcrow fought with courage and determination, helping create one of the most compelling women’s races the event has seen. But on a day when records were made to be broken, in not ideal conditions Isla Short rose to the occasion and stamped her name into 3 Peaks history.

Charlotte Lissaman was equally remarkable, demolishing the junior women’s record that had stood since 2014. Her outstanding performance saw her finish 50 minutes faster than Jessica Wilkinson’s previous mark.

Huge congratulations to our new champions, Lachlan Morton and Isla Short.

From the packed roads and hillsides to the roaring crowds across the Three Peaks, today was a powerful reminder of what makes this race so special. The 3 Peaks Cyclo-cross is more than a race. It is a test of courage, endurance and determination, shared by riders, volunteers and spectators across the whole of North Yorkshire.

This race never fails to amaze me, thank to everyone who played a part from volunteers, to emergency services, to competitors, to officials and landowners and the farming community.
